The film is set in the 1970s, during the Vietnam War. A team of scientists and soldiers, led by Bill Randa (John Goodman), embark on an expedition to a remote island in the Pacific, known as Skull Island. The team is joined by a group of soldiers, including Lieutenant Colonel James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) and Sergeant John C. Chambers (John Ortiz). They are also accompanied by a photographer, Laura Chapman (Brie Larson).
Upon arriving on the island, the team discovers that it is home to a variety of strange and terrifying creatures, including the legendary King Kong. As they explore the island, they realize that Kong is not the only threat they face, as they are also being hunted by a group of Vietnamese soldiers, led by a ruthless and cunning commander, General Han (Jing Tian).
